Ida Irene Gillies Taylor McDowell, 88, of American Fork, passed away peacefully August 27, 2024. Born September 17, 1935 in Beaver, Utah the daughter of George Elmo Gillies and Jeneva Shipp Gillies. She married Gordon Taylor July 10, 1953 in Springville, Utah they later divorced. She later married David Robert McDowell September 7, 1991 in the Manti LDS Temple he preceded her in death November 18,2006. Ida loved traveling especially to Mexico when she lived in Yuma, AZ, enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, camping and fishing. She collected cookie jars and spoons and embroidered dishtowels and blankets for her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Keith Taylor, Kelly Taylor,Kristi (Steve) Laursen, 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren and a brother Bonner Gillies. She is preceded in death by her husband, David, her parents, a daughter Karen Burt,granddaughters Nicole and Danielle and sisters Shirley Rockwood and Deanna Wentz. Graveside services will be held Wednesday September 4, 2024 at 11:30 am in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery1997 South 400 East. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North American Fork.
