Herbert Amos Rasmussen, formerly of West Valley, Utah, passed away quietly February 11, 2024, just weeks before his 97th birthday.
Herbert was born March 14, 1927, and raised in Nephi, Utah. Herb graduated from Juab High School. Herb served 15 months in the US Navy during WW II as a cook aboard a tanker ship in the Marshall Islands. Herb attended USAC in Logan for 2 years. Herb served a 2 ½ year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Denmark. After his mission, Herb moved to Salt Lake City and worked for 34 years as a Lab Tech and Miller at ConAgra and Cereal Foods, Inc. Herb served in many church callings through the years, one of his favorites was with his wife, Amy, at the Jordan River Temple in the Baptistry.
Herb was preceded in death by his father, Amos Christian Rasmussen; his mother, Julia Christiansen; sister, Venna (Boyson) Matsu; great-grandson, Wade Owen Glad; and his wife of 30 years, Amy Ivonne Rasmussen Allred. Survived by his children, Karl, Diane, Barry, Kathryn, Kevin, and Julie; 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank all the residents, staff, and healthcare providers at Covington Senior Living in Lehi for the warmth, friendliness, acceptance, encouragement, and love that was shown to Herb as he resided there the last 3 years. We would also like to thank A Plus Hospice for the tender, loving care they gave Herb the last 4 months of his life.
A memorial service is to be held at 3 PM on February 19, 2024, at Covington Senior Living, 301 N 1200 E, Lehi, UT 84043. Herbert will be laid to rest in the Nephi City Cemetery.
