Gwendolyn Joan Hopkin, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, in her home in Pleasant Grove, UT at the age of 93. Born on March 24, 1931, in Rushville, NE to Stanley and Verle Peters. Gwen was a cherished member of her community and a pillar of strength for her family.
Gwen had a passion for genealogy, cherishing the memories and traditions of her loved ones. She delighted in preserving the mementos of her son's achievements, particularly his badges from Cub Scouts, and spent countless hours tracing her family's lineage. Known for her organizational skills, Gwen was always meticulous in her endeavors, whether it was keeping track of family history or excelling in her career as a bookkeeper.
In her leisure time, Gwen found joy in playing card games, with Pinochle holding a special place in her heart. She took pleasure in the simple things in life - walking with friends, quilting, attending performances at the Hale Center Theater, and dancing to her favorite tunes, especially "Could I Have This Dance?" by Anne Murray and "Mambo Number 5."
Her adventures with her husband took her around the world, exploring countries like Italy, Japan, China, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Gwen dedicated her time and talents to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, finding fulfillment in her service mission at the Tabernacle and Conference Center in Salt Lake City.
Known for her hospitality, Gwen loved bringing her family together for Thanksgiving, showcasing her culinary skills with her famous Jell-O creations. Her warm and welcoming demeanor made her a delight to be around, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Gwen is survived by her loving children: Tim (Lynne) Hopkin, Cathy (Gordon) McVey and Bernie (LaVella) Hopkin, grandchildren and four great grandchildren
Preceded in death by her husband Berwyn and two sons Michael and Stanley.
Graveside services and ceremonies in honor of Gwendolyn Joan Hopkin will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 2:00 PM to celebrate her life and legacy. May she forever dance in our hearts.
