Gordon Ledru “Red” Winget, born on Jan. 14, 1932, passed away in his sleep at age 91 on April 7th, 2023, in Highland Utah, where he could always be found surrounded by family.
He was born and raised in Missouri by his parents, Lena Mae Harris, and Francis Luther Winget, with 3 older brothers, and 3 older sisters, of which his 99 year old brother JC is still with
us.
His true home was in Pueblo Colorado, where he lived with his dear wife Jeanie of 46 years and daughters Penny and Frankie and his son Rusty.
Red is survived by Frankie and Rusty and is preceded in death by Jeanie and Penny.
40 of his years in Pueblo were spent working at CF&I steel, which instilled a sense of craftsmanship that persevered to the end. As an avid outdooorsman, he spent much of his free time fishing with his beloved dogs, and in his younger days, could be found racing and repairing stock cars.
As a grandfather to 14, and great grandfather to 13 (with 2 more on the way), he always took the time to provide heartfelt birthday cards to each of them. The love he received was reciprocated with ceaseless generosity, and the friendships he made were lifelong.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 22, 2023 @ 11:00 am in the Anderson & Sons Lone Peack Chapel, 6141 West 11000 North, Highland, UT. Please share a memory on Gordon's tribute wall.
