Glenda Murdoch

Glenda Richins Murdoch, 88, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away August 27, 2017. She was born June 4, 1929 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Alfred Alonzo and Florence Johnson Richins. Her mother passed away when Glenda was 7 years old leaving Alfred with three young daughters-Cora, Mary and Glenda. Her father then married Ellen Sundquist and they had four more children together. This completed their family.
Glenda Attended schools in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1947.
Glenda married Ralph A. Murdoch and they were the parents of five children. They later divorced.
Glenda was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Glenda worked many years at the American Fork Hospital and the Utah State Developmental Center. Glenda also volunteered as a pink lady at the American Fork Hospital and Senior Citizen Center. She was a temple worker at the Mount Timpanogos Temple.
Glenda enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. She also loved to go camping and ride horses. She was the glue that held her family together. Grandma Glenda made everyone feel loved and special. You couldn't leave her house without a treat.
She is survived by one son, Murray Murdoch (Kathy); four daughters, Debra Thompson (Mark), Susan Slack (Alan), Jone Varney (Jon) and Sharon Laycock (David); 19 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren; her three brothers John, Karl, and Calvin and her sister Louise.
Glenda had many friends. She had two special men in her later life-first Howard and then DeMar.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Charleston Assisted Living Center and Tender Care Home Health and Hospice for their loving care of Glenda.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the American Fork 29th Ward Chapel, 673 East 300 North. A viewing will be held Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North and Friday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Burial in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
