German Cervantes Villa, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024, in Provo, Utah. Born on March 17, 1968, in Villa Corona Jalisco, Mexico, German immediately brought joy and happiness to his parents, Jesus Jose Cervantes and Maria del Rosario Villa.
He was a master at operating an excavator in the construction industry. He demonstrated determination and a strong work ethic, proving that success can be achieved through hard work and dedication.
German came to America in his early adult life to build a better future for his parents, brothers, sisters, and to reach his goals and dreams in life. In the summer of 1987, German met the love of his life, Georgia (his ojos de miel). Together, they had two children, Anna and German Jr. Later, he married Georgia on May 10, 1997, in Orem, Utah. German felt a deep love and protection for his family and he did everything he could to make sure they had everything they needed, including his brothers and sisters.
Outside of his work, German found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep passion for soccer. He played on a team with his soccer buddies almost every weekend. He traveled to many places, but always made an effort to go back to his hometown at least every Christmas. He loved experiencing life through food, whether it was sampling new dishes or savoring his favorite recipes. A plate of Birria and tortillas with his Coke on the side was his most favored recipe. He enjoyed all types of movies, especially his old Cantinflas films. You would hear him laugh throughout the whole film from start to end.
Above all, German treasured his time spent with his loved ones. He adored his wife and their bond was a testament to true love and unwavering support. His greatest pride were his children, and later, his grandchildren. German's presence enriched the lives of his family and friends, who admired his infectious laughter, kindness, his big sense of humor, and the joy he brought to every gathering. He was a man with a tough exterior and a strong character. He was a straight shooter and called things the way he saw them. He had a soft spot in his heart and if you needed help, German was the first to show up and never expected anything in return. He even helped people he didn't know. German's heart was big and generous. If you were blessed to know German, your life was better for it.
German is survived by his wife, Georgia; children, Anna and German Jr.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Juan Carlos and Martin; and three sisters, Guadalupe, Luz Maria, and Claudia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Jesus and Maria del Rosario; grandmother, Maria Del Transito Gonzalez; and nephew, Omar Cervantes.
