On December 7, 2024, Stanley Gene Sadler (Gene) passed away in his home with his cherished wife of over 61 years, Suzanne Rich Sadler by his side.
Born at home in Spring Lake, Utah on March 6, 1938 to Hector Baden Powell Sadler & Maida Ann Butler, Gene spent a lifetime surrounded by loved ones who admired him, cheered him on, and loved spending time learning from him. Following his service in the Eastern States Mission, he graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah and married Suzanne Rich in the Logan Utah Temple on August 23, 1963.
They immediately moved to New York, where Gene earned a MS and PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Sciences at the University of Rochester. He enjoyed conquering engineering challenges with Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth, Texas, where he became the head of Rotor Dynamics.
Gene was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served two additional missions with his cherished wife Suzanne in the Australia Melbourne Mission and the Philippines Manila Mission. He demonstrated to his children and grandchildren the importance of serving the Lord and others through many callings and his Christlike example. As a Patriarch in two stakes, his influence extended far beyond the family. He was patient, kind, and generous with his spirit and wisdom.
Gene found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed gardening and sharing weekly garden reports with anyone who would listen. He managed to make vegetables grow in seemingly impossible conditions. He loved researching genealogy and sharing his wealth of knowledge with others.
Gene enjoyed a good prank and loved teasing in a way that lifted others. He impressed his family and others with his rock skipping skills, making a blade of grass whistle, and "blowing up" his muscles. He found happiness in spending time with his family, and children were drawn to his gentle nature. He led others to Christ through his humble example.
He is preceded in death by his son Nathan and is survived by his wife Suzanne, and children Rebecca Staten (Jeff), Jennifer Bean (Jon), Jared Sadler (Jennis) and Rachelle Martin (Byron), 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and his sister Merlene (Jim) Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at the Manila Creek 2nd Ward chapel, 1320 W 3540 North, Pleasant Grove, Utah, with a viewing from 9:45-10:45 am.
