Elva Brown

September 25, 1914 — May 8, 2017

Elva Koreen Hambleton Brown peacefully passed away, surrounded by loving family, on Monday, May 8. She was the fourth of six children born to Nephi and Mary Adeline Scott Hambleton, September 25, 1914, in Perkins, Oklahoma.
She married Lee Brown, December 23, 1931. They had three children; Elvin, Ruby, and Dean; 20 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and many, many, many great-great grandchildren.
Lee and Elva were adventurous spirits; moving to Provo in 1942, Richland, Washington in 1944, back to Provo in 1945, Oklahoma in 1946, back to Provo in 1947, Ogden in 1952, then north to Alaska in 1953, Spanish Fork in 1960, Springville 1967, and finally American Fork in 1986; where they built their home. Lee passed away in 1987.
Elva was active in the LDS Church in the Thirteenth Ward for 30 years and processed many names in the Temple. She was best known for her beautiful yard and flowers, mowing her own lawn throughout her nineties. She climbed to Mt. Timpanogos Cave to celebrate her 90th and her 91st birthdays. Ruby had to tell the grandkids they couldn't challenge her anymore. She picked and canned thousands of peaches from the trees in her yard until her health failed in her late nineties. She drove until she was 99. At 100 she moved to Salt Lake City to be closer to family, but continued to live on her own.
She was a great example. She loved her family especially the little ones, and we loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, both sons and their wives, and son-in-law.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday May 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork with a viewing from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services; internment at Murray Cemetery. Please share a memory at andersonmortuary.com.
