Elroy Eugene Healey, 96, passed away November 23, 2016 in Alpine, Utah. Born August 31, 1920 in Alpine, Utah to Elroy Devey Healey and Naomi Thornton. He married Mary Afton Beck on January 11, 1941 in Farmington, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Eugene started his work career at a young age delivering papers, working at a poultry plant and as a gas station attendant. After he married his beloved wife Afton, he moved to California where he worked for General Motors. Several years later he began working for the LDS church on their ranch located outside of Paris California. Later he moved to Florida where he spent 10 years working on the church's Deseret Ranch. He moved back to Utah in 1960 and began his career with Strong Construction Company in Springville Utah. He retired from there in 1983. In his retirement he rebuilt tractors, jeeps and farmed.
Eugene is survived by his sister Nan Rae Marcon and his children: Freda (Mark) Leifson, Paul (Colleen) Healey, Becky (Bion) Hall, Mona (Phillip) Miller, Clark (Tena) Healey, 29 grandchildren, and many Great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Afton, a daughter Mary (Kim) Thomas, and Brother Howard Healey.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Alpine Stake Center 98 East Canyon Crest Road, Alpine, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. A viewing will also be held Monday, November 28, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary Lone peak chapel 6141 West 11000 North, Highland Utah .
