In the hands of her loving parents, our sweet Ellie returned home to our Father in Heaven on Sunday, August 9th 2020.
Ellie Mikay Atkinson was born April 3, 2007 to Curtis & Taria Atkinson in Murray, Utah. She was the first child of four, and was an instrumental part of her family being sealed together for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a special miracle during her short time here on earth and her eternal journey continues on..
Ellie enjoyed spending time with her family in the outdoors riding dirt bikes, fishing, camping, hiking, and most outdoor activities. Her more recent excitement came from driving the Polaris RZR Razor, which all came very natural to her. Her younger siblings would often try to keep up with her and truly enjoyed their time together and the close friendships they built.
Ellie understood the emotion of love and had a deep desire to share her amazing gifts & talents. She had a compassionate heart and the voice of an angel that touched and inspired many lives. She had an expansive creativity and would share that in her artwork and music. She had incredible empathy and cared deeply for her friends. Some of Ellie’s precious moments were spent in the temple doing temple work with her parents, friends, and Young Women to assist in the work of bringing to pass eternal families.
Ellie had a passion for life and wanted to experience it all. Her ambitious spirit knew she had limited time on earth and lived life to the fullest. She was extremely talented in singing, playing the violin, gymnastics, trampoline, basketball, swimming, soccer, theater and so many other hobbies. She had a strong drive to excel in everything and wasn’t afraid of any challenges.
Ellie’s passion over the last 3 years has been the trampoline, and competing within the USA Trampoline and Tumbling competitions with her Wasatch T&T team. She loved and excelled in the trampoline, working towards an elite level. She loved traveling to the competitions with her gym friends and coaches as they were like family to her.
Ellie is survived by her parents and siblings: Ethan, Rikki, and Ryder Atkinson, her grandparents RaVae Merkley, Ron and Cyndi Atkinson, Karl and Wendy Bolton and aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandpa Joseph Ray Merkley, who is holding her hand in heaven.
The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to Ellie’s Army of Angels both here and on the other side, including family, friends, the doctors and nurses at Primary Children’s Hospital and many others that cared for her during this difficult time. Her passing was peaceful and painless, and has been a comfort to the family to know that the Lord has provided a plan for Ellie, and for us.
