Elizabeth Voss

May 29, 1947 — November 2, 2024

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Elizabeth Marilyn Willis Voss, born on May 29,1947, in Wallasey, England. She peacefully departed from this world on November 2, 2024, at her home in Alpine, Utah.

Elizabeth possessed an energetic and big-hearted soul. She married William Voss in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 22, 1966, and neither of them ever looked back. Despite busy professional lives, six children, and caring for aging parents and the many, many people that Liz came to love over the course of her life, she and Bill held hands every time they could-at the dinner table, at the front of their fifteen-passenger van, or while shelling peas during a family movie marathon. She never turned down a chance to tell a family story-and she cherished every opportunity to hold a grandchild close. Dubbed "Mother Voss" by a surgeon with whom she worked for many years, Liz truly loved her family wholeheartedly and completely.

A love of learning also defined Elizabeth's life. After earning an Associate's degree in Medical Technology, she worked as a scrub technician, preparing and passing instruments to surgeons as needed. She later earned a Master's degree in Nutrition, and even explored real estate as a licensed agent and broker. Despite these accomplishments, her most treasured professional work was in the heart surgery room as the first Certified Cardiopulmonary Perfusionist in the state of Utah, reflecting her dedication to serving and caring for others.

Elizabeth's enthusiasm for learning didn't stop with her professional pursuits. She was passionate about nature and animals, history and cultures, science, music, nutrition, fishing, crabbing, and clamming. She was the first one to grab a book, share an interesting article, or figure out the most efficient way to clean clams for fresh chowder.

Liz knew how to be formal and professional-and she loved getting her hands dirty in the garden. She taught her children proper English etiquette-and she knew just how to make them laugh. Liz splashed in the waves of her beloved Pacific Ocean, and she heel-clicked down the halls of the hospital-when she was nine months pregnant!

Elizabeth Marilyn Willis Voss was a mother, a wife, a professional, and a friend. Her kindness knew no bounds. Her compassion and willingness to help others endeared her to all who crossed her vibrant path.

She was, in a word, unforgettable.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband Bill, her six children: William David (Celia) Voss, Bradley W (Patricia) Voss, Michael John (Melinda) Voss, Julie Ann Ssejinja, Kirk Thomason (Meghan) Voss, Stephanie Tack (Travis) Dastrup, 20 Grandchildren, her siblings Elizabeth Ann Cramer, Eldon (Tiffany) Willis, Karen (Whitney) Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents-David Russell Willis and Annie Thomason Willis Groo, her siblings- Margaret Susan Hurley, Ruth Marie Randle, and David Thomason Willis, and a grandchild- Richard Alexander Voss.

Funeral services to honor Elizabeth's remarkable life will be held at the Matterhorn Chapel, 285 North Matterhorn Drive, Alpine, Utah on Saturday, November 16, 2024. The public viewing will be from 9:45-10:45 am, followed by a heartfelt funeral service at 11:00 am.

In the memories we hold dear and the legacy she leaves behind, Elizabeth's spirit will forever be cherished. Her genuine love and unwavering kindness will continue to guide and inspire us all.
