Elizabeth (Betty) Houston McTague, 95, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017, in Provo Utah, with her family by her side.
She was born November 19, 1922 in American Fork, Utah to Vernon Frederick Houston and Mrytle Matilda Coddington.
She married Harry Dale McTague on June 3, 1944 in American Fork, Utah. They were later sealed in the Provo LDS Temple on June 27, 1974.
Betty graduated from American Fork High School and University of Utah with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She taught Physical Education and Folk Dancing at Brigham Young University among other schools. Betty worked as Director of Volunteers at the American Fork Hospital and has also been a Volunteer up until now. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many leadership capacities. She enjoyed her time serving at the Provo Temple with Harry. Betty was involved in the Arlitra Club and enjoyed many years as a leader in 4-H Clubs. She was the first Ladies President of the Alpine Country Club.
Her hobbies were sewing for her grandchildren, needlepoint, golfing and reading. She loved her family and enjoyed attending the activities of her grandchildren. She was their best supporter and cheerleader. After retiring Betty and Harry loved spending time traveling to new places in their motorhome. Betty had the amazing talent of always making you feel better after having spent time with her. She was known as "Grandma" by many in the neighborhood and had a smile for everyone she met. To know her was to love her.
Betty is survived by twin daughters: Jone (Steven) Jensen of Nampa, Idaho and Jean (Edwin) Jones of American Fork. Grandchildren: John and Jenny (Jensen) Seable, David and Cherie (Jensen) Jenkins, Jonathan and Amy (Jensen) Lee, Jeff Jones, Samuel and Katie (Jones) Western and Jake and Jimie Jo Jensen and 20 great grandchildren that were the light of her world and her sister Joyce Curtis. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry, her parents and a brother Fred Houston.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the American Fork 8th Ward, 300 North 100 East. A viewing will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. in the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork and Saturday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the American Fork Cemetery.
