Florence Earlyn Dean Kawahara

September 11, 1951 - June 26, 2024

Florence Earlyn “Lynnie” Dean Kawahara, 72, of American Fork, Utah, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on June 26, 2024 after an abrupt diagnosis of cancer. She was born in American Fork, Utah, on September 11, 1951 to Owen and Mary Holmstead Dean. Earlyn grew up in American Fork, Utah, and graduated from American Fork High School in 1969. Shortly after high school, she moved to Los Angeles with her beloved uncle Bern L Dean. She met her sweetheart, Mark Kawahara, and they were married on May 3, 1974. They bought their first home in Hermosa Beach and welcomed their first child Andy. They lived in California for a few years before moving back to American Fork where they welcomed their second child Marissa. Lynnie loved being a mother more than anything and was so proud of her children. She was an amazing homemaker and made their home a loving place to be. Lynnie was the embodiment of selfless love. She gave 100% of herself to those she held dear and was always doing something for someone else. She never wanted any fanfare or recognition and preferred to be behind the scenes rather than the center of attention. Lynnie was an amazing cook and often delivered meals and treats to her loved ones. One of the highlights of her life was becoming a “gramma” to her only grandchild, Lailah. They had many wonderful adventures together and a truly special bond. Lynnie was preceded in death by her parents Owen & Mary Dean, and sister Marianne Dean Dubois. She is survived by her husband Mark Lynn Kawahara, son Andrew Lynn Kawahara (Michelle), daughter Marissa Kawahara, and granddaughter Lailah Lux Kawahara. She is also survived by her siblings Craig (Lori) Dean, Cheryl (Milt)Rasmussen, Shauna (Cliff) Craig, Steven (Shelly) Dean, Eric Dean, David (Molly) Dean,Lisa (Mike) Robinson, Michael (Nicole) Dean.Per Lynnie’s request, no formal funeral will be held. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at andersonmortuary.com. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at UVRMC in Provo, Utah for the tender care they provided Lynnie in her last days.
