Donald Midgley Manookin

May 26, 1947 - November 26, 2024

In loving memory of Donald Midgley Manookin

Don was born on his elder brother's sixth birthday in Salt Lake City, UT. He is the son of Robert Park Manookin, Sr. and Edna Lucile Burningham Manookin.

He graduated from Provo High School and served in the Southwest British Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After returning from his mission he served in the US Army infantry and spent a year in Vietnam.

Don married Camilla Hunsaker Manookin (div., deceased) while in the Army after basic training. They had two wonderful children, Adana Manookin and Daniel Mark Manookin. He later married Christine Ann Smith Manookin (div., deceased) and they had a precious daughter, Hauva Manookin. He married Nedra Ann Parker Manookin April 6, 2004. She passed away June 26, 2008.

Don worked as a carpenter, painter and eventually found a career at US West (Mtn. Bell) Telephone Company until his retirement. He then worked ten years at Geneva Rock Company.

Don loved the outdoors, working on and restoring cars and helping out others, especially family and neighbors. Don was active in his church and loved to go to the temple until a stroke made it very difficult.

He loved writing and the emotional outlet and self-discovery that it gave him, writing several novels that he shared with a select few. In his later years he enjoyed trying to learn various new musical instruments.

Don is survived by his children, his siblings David, Jim, Marie Jensen, Richard, Ed, Barbara Hill. His older brother Robert, Jr. and sister Jean Garbett preceded him in death.

We want to thank Shawn and Melanie Parker and their family who have been supportive and accepting of Don as their brother-in-law, especially after the passing of their sister.
