Diana Mills

Diana Fraim Mills, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 2, 2022, at Legacy House Assisted Living in Spanish Fork, Utah.Diana was born on October 3, 1946, to Roger and Jennis Fraim in Corsicana, Texas. She was raised in Denton, Texas, along with her younger sisters Dorcus, Janice, and brother Roger. As a child she learned and enjoyed playing the piano, reading, and playing baseball. She said she always considered herself a bit of a tomboy.

After attending North Texas State University, Diana moved to Utah to attend BYU. She met her sweetheart, George William Mills of Appleton, Wisconsin while playing coed softball. George was smitten after seeing her playing the piano in sacrament meeting. They were sealed in the Manti Temple on December 22, 1972. They fell in love with Utah and decided to make north Utah County their permanent home. Together they raised six children until George became ill and died in 1998 when he was 48.

Diana was a fiercely devoted mother and always made her children her priority. She rarely missed a ball game, dance, or music performance. We always knew we could look out into the crowd and see her cheering wildly for us. She was proud to be able to stay at home to raise her family.

Diana was very involved in the community and volunteered many hours of her time. Pageant of the Arts, Jr Miss, Highland Fling Committee, Alpine Days Committee, and multiple stints as PTSA President all earned a measure of her talents and devotion. When she was younger she put her talent to use working in radio as an ad writer. Later in life she worked as a writer and photographer for the local newspapers, attending countless community and local government events as part of her position. She took great pride in providing vital information to local citizens.

She was a talented pianist and singer, and music in her home brought her great comfort and joy. She was frugal and a thrifty spender, teaching her children not to be wasteful and grateful for what they had. We could always count on a pile of coupons to take home after any visit. Diana was a true serial entrepreneur who took great pride in running more than a few small enterprises. Her many tasks single-handedly kept the Post-It Notes people in business for many years.

Diana had a great sense of humor and often surprised people with her quick wit. Although she often preferred to spend time alone, her genuine love and caring endeared her to many people. Her caretakers at Legacy House regularly expressed their love for her. They often referred to her as "the peacemaker" of the home.

Diana loved being a grandma to her 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. There was nothing more important to her in her life than her family, and she made sure we knew it. A close second would have probably been her love of Star Trek, or her crush on Hugh Jackman.

Diana joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a young woman and was active throughout her life. She had a strong testimony and was a great example of faith to her family and those that knew her. She spent many years serving in primary presidencies, cub scouts, as organist and ward and primary chorister, and singing in the ward choir. She always wanted to be a missionary and was blessed with the opportunity in 2014-2015 to be called as a service missionary. She wore her name tag with so much pride.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Nathan (Laurel) Mills, Merrie (Chad) Parrish, Stacey (Matt) Lake, Alison (Neil) Skea, Jeff (Andrea) Mills, Brady (Sara) Mills; 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; her siblings Dorcas Fife, Janice Fraim, and Roger Fraim.

Diana is preceded in death by her loving husband, George Mills; and her parents Roger Fraim and Jennis Jefferies Fraim.

We would like to give special thanks to those at Legacy House, Active Hospice, and others over these past few years who have loved and cared for Diana as if she was one of their own.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11 at 11:00 AM at Anderson & Sons Mortuary Lone Peak Chapel - 6141 West 11000 North Highland, Utah. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the same location.
