Dennis Newman

Walter Dennis Newman, 88, passed away September 10, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.  Dennis was born October 20, 1930 the son of Walter Roy and Mary Thelma Powell Newman.  He married Carma Grant on July 5, 1951 in the Manti LDS Temple.  Dennis was a patriot who tried to enlist during WWII at the age of 14, however the war ended before he could join up.  He later served in the Navy for 9 years during the Korean War.  Dennis loved to travel, especially cruises with his wife, loved woodworking, making bird houses, toys and Easter baskets for his family and many friends.  The greatest joy in Dennis’s life was spending time with his family, especially playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Survivors include his wife, Carma; daughters:  Charisse (Bruce) Decker; and Karen (Steve) Jorgensen; 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and his brother Blaine Newman.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Eudean Garrard; Lester Newman; Paul Newman, and Carol Perelle.

Funeral services will be held Monday September 16, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Alpine Hillside Ward, 676 North Eagle View Drive.  A viewing will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 pm at the Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel, 6141 West, 11000 North, Highland, and Monday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 am prior to the services.  Burial in the Alpine Cemetery.
