He married Cindy Greenwood on January 21, 1978 in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Dennis and Cindy have been residents of Batesville, Indiana since 1988, where Dennis owned and operated his own business, Long's Quality Painting and was known for the high quality of his work. He had an intelligent and inquiring mind and was always reading and studying many different books and topics.
Dennis was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership and teaching volunteer positions throughout his life. He served as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America for many years and touched the lives of many young men in that capacity. He was good natured, fun loving and was a pleasure to be around. His children, grandchildren and even his friends' children loved to accompany him when he went out to fly his model airplanes, one of his favorite hobbies.
Dennis loved the outdoors and spent many hours in the mountains, hiking, camping and fishing. He was a commercial salmon fisherman in Bristol Bay, Alaska, and loved to accompany his friends to Florida to fish and crab. He also loved to garden and was a gourmet cook with the ability to use his fresh produce to create wonderful sauces and entrees.
His loss is felt deeply by his family. Dennis was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be remembered lovingly for his many kindnesses, his wonderful sense of humor, his intelligence, his spirituality, his wisdom and his deep testimony of and devout love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
