Deborah Wood

February 6, 1960 — September 17, 2021

Deborah “Debbie” Dixon Wood, 61, passed away September 17, 2021 in Lehi UT, surrounded by her family. Throughout her life she suffered from many ailments, and it was ultimately cancer that took her life. She was born on February 6, 1960, in Provo, Utah to Donald and Diane Dixon.

Very few people had as much influence on others as Debbie. Anyone who knew her would affirm that her generosity knew no bounds. She cared deeply for everyone she met, especially her family, friends, and students. Her big heart was unconditional. Debbie was a woman of great faith and a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her family heritage and wrote the life histories of her grandparents.

Debbie was a go-getter, full of ambition and an entrepreneurial spirit. At any given time, you'd see her with several different things in flight. Few mothers can be a parent, teach full time, coach a nationally ranked cheerleading team, and run a business on the side. She was an incredibly dynamic woman that refused to settle or slow down.

No one enjoyed planning for holidays and special occasions more than Debbie. She loved to throw parties and bring people together, and as a result, people were drawn to her. Gift giving was her true love language - if you knew Debbie you likely found yourself on the receiving end of a token of her love. One of her mantras for life was, "Inspire those who inspire us," and she tried to live it out each day.

Debbie was a passionate person full of vibrancy. Her life was full of trials and challenges, yet her will to overcome helped her endure. She was strong and resilient, which gave hope to those around her. Her relationships sustained her and permeated through all aspects of her life.

She is survived by her children, Chelsie McWhorter, Cole (Brittani) McWhorter and Kellen (Jordyn) McWhorter; her grandchildren, Calvin McWhorter, Mason McWhorter, and Emilia McWhorter; her parents, Don and Diane Dixon; and siblings, Scott Dixon, Shelley (Lee) Johnson, Sean (M’Shelle) Dixon, and Kerry (Todd) Gurney.
