David Lee Allen, age 74, of Mesquite, Nevada, passed away on July 5th, 2021. He was born on August 15, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He moved to Wisconsin in 1954 with his mother, Elaine D. Allen, and his younger brother, Daniel D. Allen. He attended elementary and high school in Poynette, Wisconsin.
He graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1969 with a BS degree in biology. He married the love of his life, Joanne Marie Zellmer, on June 24th, 1967, in Madison, Wisconsin and was later sealed for Time and All Eternity in the Manti, Utah Temple. He worked at the University of Wisconsin – Madison from 1974 to early 2008, at which time he retired.
He was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served as bishop of the Sun Prairie Ward from 1997 through 2002. He is survived by his wife, Joanne, and their daughter, Mollie Allen Bowers (Jeff), as well as his brother, Daniel D. Allen (Lia). He was preceded in death by his daughter; Amanda Lee Allen, in July of 1984.
There will be a memorial service at 11:00 am on July 13th,2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 150 E 1500 N, Lehi, UT.
