David Jacob

October 29, 1952 — December 4, 2016

David Riley Jacob passed peacefully from this life on December 4, 2016 of natural causes in Grand Junction Colorado. He was born October 29, 1952 to Sherman Ellsworth and Ethel Mae Taft Jacob in Provo, Utah. Rose Park became his childhood home. He attended public schools nearby including West High School; after High School he joined the Air Force.
Dave was a free spirit who periodically found it necessary to do a "walkabout" to find a new home. He found homes in Salt Lake, Moab and Nephi, Utah, as well as Reno, Nevada and finally, Grand Junction, Colorado.
Dave was a musician and artist. He loved to share these talents and was proud of his copyrights. A treasured possession was a pair of gloves given to him by Bonnie Raitt while he was doing work as a "roadie" at one of her concerts.
Mostly, Dave will be remembered as a loyal, thoughtful, and beloved brother, uncle, son and friend. He made efforts to create family memories by staying in touch and giving the best gifts to family members. His favorite Holidays were Christmas and Memorial Day. He would often say, "The most important thing is family, everything else is just stuff."
Dave will be missed and remembered by his brother, Bill (JaNeane) Jacob; his nieces Lori (Eric) Briggs, Leisa (Richard) Hatch and Georgette Lundquist; his great nieces Sara, Janelle, Megan, Ashlyn, Dana, Kyra and Lindsey; and his longtime friends Rick and John.
He looks forward to reuniting with his parents, a brother Larry Jacob and a great nephew Kurt Briggs.
Ride past the lake, the ancient lake…
West to the sea for Summer to find,
To reach for Spring's new hope,
To be full and new in the Summer.
The Summer of all seasons.
A gathering to remember and celebrate Dave's life will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Utah.
