It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Gourley Mitchell, a beloved father, and esteemed project manager who departed from this world on September 30, 2024, at his home in Lindon, UT. Born on November 8, 1947, in Provo, UT, David leaves behind a legacy of dedication, hard work, and unwavering love. After graduating from high school David joined the Marine Corps. and served in Vietnam.
Upon leaving the military service, David was employed in the construction business in general construction with a specialty in commercial electrical installation and trouble shooting. David loved hunting, fishing, boating and being in the strawberry reservoir area. In summer you could always find him at Lake Powell, enjoying his boat. Golfing and socializing with friends was also a favorite past time.
David is survived by his son, Bryan Mitchell, his siblings, Paulette, Danny, Stacy, Nanci, Jeff, Jay, Valerie, Karen, and Steven. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Shirlee Gourley Mitchell, and his biological father, Ebb Pounds, a daughter, Lisa and son, Kevin, and a brother Sam.
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork Utah 84003. Interment will follow at the American Fork Cemetery, 700 North Center Street, American Fork, UT 84003. Where military honors will be performed by the United States Marine Corps.
