David Crow

February 8, 1942 — December 6, 2024

David Anthony Crow, age 82, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on February 8, 1942 in Hollywood, California to Patricia Opal Jones Crow and Howard Alexander Crow. David's childhood was full of energy, curiosity, and a deep love for life. He was raised with his brothers, Doug and Howard, in Pomona, California.

David married Sharon Jean Winklepleck on August 28th, 1964 - they were sealed in the Salt Lake City temple. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.

David graduated in 1965 from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in Education. He taught junior high school for 40 years in both California and Utah. His abundant energy, creativity, humor, desire to make learning fun and interesting, and his love of teaching endeared him to his students. He was often selected as "Teacher of the Year" by the student body.

He also coached football and track and field at the junior high and high school levels, as well as at the club level. Besides coaching his own children and grandchildren, he was the head coach of the Orem Track Club for many years, often fielding a team of over 150 athletes, some of whom competed and were successful at the national level.

David was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He faithfully attended baptisms, recitals, track meets, football and basketball games, plays and other performances that his family was involved in. His vigorous cheering and energetic support were often contagious. David's cheerful demeanor and zest for life were a delight to his family. Whether making up jingles about family pets or planning a family trip to the mountains in the 1970's camper, complete with wood paneling and an eight-track tape player, David was always ready for a new adventure.

David was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a member of the Church, he served in many different capacities, including in the scouting and young men's organizations, and in bishoprics for BYU student wards. His Christlike example included mentoring and helping youth, young adults and families on numerous occasions and in numerous ways.

David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon, who passed away earlier this year. In 2014, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends in Alpine, Utah. David's care for her, especially in her final years, was a testament to his love, loyalty and unwavering devotion to her and to trying to meet her every need.

David is survived by his brother Doug (Karol), four children (and their spouses), Lisa (and Scott) Southwick, Lori Crow, Brian (and Elizabeth) Crow, and Eric (and Tia) Crow. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
