Our beloved Darla Ann Bickmore McDonald passed away on May 31, 2024 hours after her 84th birthday in Saratoga Springs, Utah.
Darla was born in 1940 in Inglewood, California and spent much of her childhood in Lancaster, California before heading to Provo Utah to attend Brigham Young University. It was there that she met her husband Jay McDonald whom she married in 1960. The two moved to Logan, Utah for Jay to obtain his graduate degree before moving back to Lancaster.
She was involved in her various wards of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Primary, Young Women's and Relief Society, and found great joy in serving others, but no role or position was as important to her as of that of wife to Jay and mother to her six children. Her family was the focus and the source of her happiness for all of her life.
Darla lived a life of kindness to others and gratitude to the Lord for the many blessings she received in life, first and foremost of those blessing being faith and family. She is preceded in death by her father Newman and his wife Zola Bickmore and her mother Darlene Bickmore, as well as her beloved husband of 57 years, Jay who passed in 2017.
She is survived by her sister, Cherilyn Woolley of Lancaster, California and brother Larry Bickmore of Plano, Texas. Her children are Kim Shackett (Charles) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Janae Copeland (Shane) of Hurricane, Utah, Chad McDonald of Saratoga Springs, Utah, Lauren Tingey (Ryan) of Hurricane, Utah, Garett McDonald (Melissa) of Sacramento, California and Brooke Allen (Tom) of Saratoga Springs, Utah and her sixteen grandchildren, and her seven great children.
