Christopher Thayne

December 14, 1990 — June 18, 2024

Christopher "Chris" Jones Thayne (33), of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away on June 18th, 2024 while visiting family in Highland, Utah. He was born December 14, 1990 in West Jordan, Utah, the fourth of seven children, to Michael Gordon Thayne and Cynthia Jones Thayne.

Growing up in Highland, Christopher, or "Fer" to his younger siblings and cousins, was a gentle, and bright young man, especially sensitive to the needs of others. He loved the outdoors and recreational sports like basketball, football, and baseball. His skill as a catcher earned him the monicker "the vacuum", rarely letting pitches get past his mitt or runners to home plate.

He loved participating in the scouting program, mostly for the multitude of opportunities to go on long camping trips, and on hikes to beautiful vistas. Some of his favorite places in the whole world were in the mountains, where he sought life’s answers off the beaten path, or in the sagebrush and juniper of the red rock deserts. He was always up for a fishing trip and loved these times with his dad, siblings, grandpas, and nephews and looked forward to continuing that tradition with Forester.

Christopher loved to ride dirt bikes, especially with his late best friend and cousin, Bryce Jamison Hatch. He loved participating in the scouting program, mostly for the multitude of opportunities to go on long camping trips, and on hikes to beautiful vistas. Some of his favorite places in the whole world were in the mountains, where he sought life's answers off the beaten path, or in the sagebrush and juniper of the red rock deserts.

Christopher's love for a good deal, or a bargain, drove him to eBay, thrift stores, to classified ads, and to flea markets all over the country. While he was thrifty with his own purchases, he displayed generosity to others and freely gave of his time, talents, and possessions.

He had a hunger for knowledge, spending hours researching events, reading books, and trying to learn new skills. His bright mind reflected in his lightning-fast wit. He had a passion for music, especially techno, and EDM. It was during a music show that he met his future wife, Kaylin Stine.

In Kaylin he found a kindred spirit, someone to find humor in hard situations, to have deep conversations with, and to go explore the outdoors in their most prized bargain find: a DIY-camper-converted-ambulance. They married June 12, 2020 up Little Cottonwood Canyon, surrounded by family, friends, and the smell of pine. His greatest desire in life was fulfilled when his son, Forester Jamison Thayne was born Feb 3, 2022. He had never been happier, or more eager to hold a title in his entire life than "Daddy".

Christopher is survived by his wife, Kaylin, and their son Forester, his parents Michael and Cynthia Thayne, his siblings: James Thayne, Stephannie (Jeremiah) Fox, Tiffany Thayne, Timothy Thayne, and Jonathon Thayne, his nephews and niece: Levi, William, Scarlett, and Simon Fox, and his grandparents: Lester C. Jones, and Annie Price Jones. He is preceded in death by his sister Kimberly Thayne, and his grandparents, Gordon and Donna Anderson Thayne.
