Carolyn Ellis Bowers: beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, in Lehi, Utah. She was born on July 10, 1945 in Driggs, Idaho to William Southwick Ellis and Alice Jeppson Ellis.
Carolyn loved growing up in the shadows of the Teton mountains. She had an older brother and was one of 5 girls affectionately known as the "Aunt Pile." Some of her favorite memories were picking huckleberries and picnicking at Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park. Carolyn had a love of music that she passed on to her children. She took piano lessons, played the flute and the piccolo in band, was a part of the Glee club and participated in sewing in 4-H. She loved going to school, attending dances, and participating in church activities.
She graduated from Teton High School in 1963. She was the fastest typer in her school so she decided she wanted to be a secretary. She attended Stevens Henager Business College in Salt Lake City. While there, she met the love of her life and eternal companion, Don Bowers. They were sealed for time and all eternity on June 15th, 1967 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have been married for 57 years.
They lived in Salt Lake City while Don pursued his degrees at the University of Utah. They moved to Turlock, CA in 1971 where Don spent his career at California State University Stanislaus and they raised their 6 children on their ranch. She was the most amazing, loving and kind mother. She was always there supporting her children in their studies, sports, church and music activities.
Carolyn was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved and served others her whole life. She was a Relief Society president, she played the organ and piano, worked with Girls Scouts and served as stake girls' camp secretary for several years. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. One of her greatest callings was being a loving and supporting wife for Don for many years as he served as bishop and stake president.
Carolyn and Don retired to Lehi, UT in 2006 so they could be closer to family. The joy of her life were her children and grandchildren. She always had a warm smile and hug for you and made sure you knew she loved you. She celebrated your successes and mourned your sorrows. Carolyn's warmth, laughter, and unwavering spirit left an indelible mark on all who had the joy of knowing her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering love for family and friends will live on in all our hearts.
She is survived by her sisters Maureen Savory and Enid Sessions, husband Don, her children: Andrea (Brian) Sneed, Jeffrey (Mollie) Bowers, Brandon (Melissa) Bowers, Alison Bowers, Michael (Nancy) Bowers, Christie (Dave) Lee, her 22 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild with another on the way.
Services will be held Saturday January 4th at 10am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 1631 East 900 N Lehi, UT.
