Carol Fraughton

May 9, 1945 — November 8, 2017

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister & friend passed away on November 8, 2017 in her home peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, from a brief but valiant battle with ALS.
She was born on May 9, 1945 to James Albert Jensen & Alice Marie Atkinson in Centerfield, Utah. She was the youngest of 5 children. They later moved to Orem, Utah where she attended school & graduated from Orem High. She attended BYU & Stevens Heneger.
She married Jerry Fraughton in 1963 & together had 4 children. They were later divorced.
Mom loved crafts of all kinds. She took many classes including Tole Painting & Calligraphy. She crocheted & sewed. Her kids & grandkids & most recently, great grandkids were the grateful recipients of her well-loved silky pillowcases & her beautiful baby blankets. She loved her yard & gardening & had quite a green thumb.
Mom loved her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved traveling. Some of her favorite places were the Oregon Coast and Hawaii. She worked very hard to provide & care for her family. She worked at Durfey Drycleaners, Utah State Training School, Northern Utah County Training Center, Harts, PST Trucking, EFB Trucking, DST Trucking, Vittles & Alpine School District Transportation. She loved working with individuals with Special Needs the most. When her kids were young she was very active in the PTA and she later volunteered at the American Fork Hospital in the NICU. She was a very loving, independent, and capable mother who was both Mom and Dad to us.
Mom is survived by her children; Cindy (Bryan) Willard, Parrish (Annette) Fraughton, Justin Fraughton, 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and her siblings; Jim Jensen and Joanne Hodges Winget; and her faithful dog & companion Maggie. She is preceded in death by a daughter Cami Jo, siblings Charlie Jensen, and Dagney Robinson and her parents.
A graveside service will be held Thursday November 16, 2017 at 11:00 am at the American Fork Cemetery. A viewing will be held before at 9:45-10:45 am at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Utah
A very special thank you to the ALS clinic; Summit Hospice, especially Leandra & Amy; neighbors, friends and family that were all so supportive.
