Carma Newman

Our sweet and loving mother and grandmother, Carma Newman, 89, passed away on June 18, 2023, in Alpine, Utah. Carma was born on July 25, 1933, in American Fork, Utah to Melvin Walter Grant and Leona Andreasen Grant. Carma married Walter Dennis Newman on June 1, 1951 in the Manti Temple.

Carma enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and knitting. She loved to travel and has seen many countries and fun places with her family. She served many years in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She loved spending time with her family and going to the Hale Center Theater with them. She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving in many church callings throughout her life.

Carma is survived by her children, Charisse (Bruce) Decker and Karen (Steven) Jorgensen, 12 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren. Carma is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; parents, Melvin and Leona; sister, LaRae Lockwood; brother, Leo Grant; and granddaughter, Lisa Jorgensen.

The service for Carma Newman will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Alpine Temple View Chapel, 676 N Eagle View Dr. A viewing will be held Sunday, June 25, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel, 6141 West 11000 North Highland, Utah.
