Carl Richard Adams, Jr.

April 29, 1947 - December 11, 2024

Richard Adams, resident of Lehi, UT, passed away on December 11, 2024, at American Fork Hospital, at the age of 77.

Born on April 29, 1947, in Houston, Texas, to Carl Richard Adams and Joyce Shoupe, Richard lived a life filled with love, service, and devotion to his family, faith, and community. The eldest of five children, Richard grew up alongside his siblings Ginny, Les, Ray, and Jim in Texas and California. As a young man, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taiwan, an experience that deepened his faith and love for service and Chinese food. Upon returning, Richard attended Brigham Young University, where he met and married Gayle Bashaw. From this marriage, Richard was blessed with five daughters Margaret, Marie, Madeline, Marilyn, and Marissa.

Richard began his professional career teaching math in Vernal, Utah, before transitioning to a long and successful career with the Utah Farm Bureau in Salt Lake City, where he did computer systems programing for over 30 years. After his marriage to Gayle ended, Richard married Judy Bigler (Roundy), gaining 6 stepchildren, Lara, Paul, Loren, Steven (deceased), Kimball, and Lani. Richard and Judy shared 30 happy years together. In retirement, Richard dedicated his time to service, working as a temple worker, volunteering as a math tutor in Lehi, and later working part-time for Vivint. He cherished his opportunities to serve in his ward and community.

Throughout his life, Richard had a profound love of music, particularly jazz. He was a bass trombonist in many parades, community events and numerous Hollywood productions including The Music Man and Lawrence Welk. He also shared his talents by singing in various choirs. His warm humor and friendly nature endeared him to all who knew him. He was a storyteller captivating those around him with tales drawn from his rich life experiences. He was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, and his family will forever treasure the example he set of faith, kindness, and selfless service.

Richard is survived by his wife, Judy; his siblings Ginny, Ray, and Les; his daughters Margaret and Madeline; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jim; and his beloved daughters, Marie, Marilyn and Marissa.

Richard's legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. His family finds comfort in the knowledge that he has been joyfully reunited with his loved ones who preceded him in death. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.

Family and friends are invited to honor Richard's life and legacy at a funeral service that will take place on December 20, 2024, at 11:00 am at Cedar Hollow 1st Ward, located at 9681 North 6900 West, Highland, Utah, with a public viewing scheduled for 9:45 am prior to the service.
