On Thursday, August 3rd, 2023, in Salt Lake City, UT at the age of 68, God called Byron Francisco Diaz home to be reunited in eternal life with his late son, Jose, whom he missed dearly. He passed surrounded by the family he considered his biggest bragging right and his legacy lives on in his five living children, Maria-Jose, Nancy, Luisa, Esteban, and Emiliana.
Born on September 22nd, 1954, Byron grew up in Guatemala City, Guatemala and moved to the United States over 28 years ago, an adventure that would bring him to settle in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Salt Lake City, Utah for his love of the mountains. He was a passionate writer, dedicated father, and man of God. He admired every butterfly flap and well-kept garden he encountered. His motto in life was "Animo" which translates to "courage" or "soul", both of which he encouraged his family to put into everything they do. He believed laughter was the best medicine and everything happened for a reason. He encouraged his kids to find happiness in riches that did not involve wealth, often commenting that happiness is something we can all easily create for ourselves by learning to be grateful for the little things. His true happiness could be found in the smallest cups of "Cafecito con leche". His life was a story of constant optimism and belief that the world is always in our favor, and the good we put out will always come back. His heart, spirit, and constant dad jokes accompanied by his constant belly laughter, will be immensely missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.
