Bryan Barton

February 10, 1971 — February 26, 2025

It is through the faithful, Christ-centered lens of grief that we announce the unexpected passing of Bryan "Chuck" Barton on the morning of February 26, 2025, at the young age of 54.

Over the last 20 years, he battled horrible, debilitating chronic pain, of which he took great measures to ensure very few were aware. The pain that his children and sweet wife watched him endure nearly every day was devastating, but the faithful way in which he endured taught lessons of strength, patience, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ's Atonement and the power of God's Priesthood. We find so much comfort and joy in the faith we have that he will never again have to feel physical pain. Very few could handle his mortal burden with as much grace, humility, faith, and humor, and we have faith that he has earned every bit of rest and joy that God has prepared for him.

Born on February 10, 1971, in Tooele, UT, to loving parents Elmo Kay and Carol Barton, he graduated from Pine View High School in St. George, UT, with his sweetheart, Lynette, to whom he was later eternally wed in the St. George, UT, Temple on December 1, 1990, after serving a faithful mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hamburg, Germany.

He served proudly in the National Guard for several years and was a passionate advocate for the freedoms, rights, and opportunities upon which this country was built.

He earned his associate degree from Dixie State College, his bachelor's degree from Southern Utah University, and later earned his CFP designation while working at Morgan Stanley. He found joy in helping his clients and took pride in having the opportunity to serve others in this unique way.

He held many different titles throughout his life within his career, his community, and his church. Though he took great pride in each role, among his favorites were serving as a Young Men's President for the Foster Hills Ward in the Pine View Stake in St. George, UT, and a substitute seminary teacher-first for the Washington County School District and later for the Alpine School District in Utah County. He had an immense passion for helping the youth around him realize their sincere worth, their mortal and eternal potential, and the love that our Savior, Jesus Christ, has for each of us individually.

He believed strongly in the beauty and healing power of art and music and took great pride in serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for many years for the St. George Musical Theater.

He was an Eagle Scout as a youth and had a unique passion for the values and lessons he felt could be instilled through the Scouting program. He served diligently as an adult leader in his local troop and scouting district and spent countless hours of his own personal time either helping or inspiring young men to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

He and Lynette had three loving children together, each of whom he shared an intimate and special bond with. He was a constant example of love, hard work, and faith to his children and never passed up an opportunity to express to them his absolute love for their mom. He loved Lynette with a passion and loyalty that could never be questioned and truly took up every chance he could find to both publicly and privately express his love and admiration for his best friend and eternal bride. We know that even though he has passed on around the corner where we cannot yet see, she is his number one priority now, just as she was before. Their children take such warm comfort in believing that if they want to feel the presence of their dad, they should go be with their mom.

The only thing he loved more than being a father was being a grandfather, and there was no sweeter sight in this world than seeing both his face and the faces of his two beautiful grandchildren light up with excitement when they saw each other. He found such an immense sense of peace and clarity when with his grandkids and was happiest when by their sides. Lovingly referred to by them as "Oppa Turkey," he was so perfectly loved and adored beyond measure by those two sweet children, just as he was by his own kids.

He devoted his life to the teachings, promises, and blessings of Christ's Restored Gospel and had just as strong a testimony of Him during his life as we are sure he does now. He always strived to be an example of charity and love, and those who knew him would agree that he set the bar for that example high.
