Bruce Childs

Bruce Beck Childs, 76, passed away at his home in Alpine, Utah, on December 9, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 15, 1946, in Gunnison, Utah, he was the son of Edward Lynn and Lois Annie (Beck) Childs.

He married Linda Kay Avery on July 7, 1967, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He served in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart after sustaining a shrapnel wound to his leg. After completing his military service, he owned and operated Bruce's Refrigeration in Lovell, Wyoming, for over 35 years.

Bruce was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was also very passionate about Volkswagen "Bugs," which he enjoyed working on with his sons. His greatest love was his family, and he found great joy in spending time with them. Diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease at the age of 52, Bruce was determined to continue doing as much as he could for as long as he could, never complaining about his condition.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; children, Barry (Alice) Childs, Brad (Lorrain) Childs, Casey (Amanda) Childs, Christina (Jonathan) McKenzie, and Alan (Anahi) Childs; 18 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and siblings; Grant Childs, Lynnette Loveland, Debi Spencer, Becky Kreis, and Phyllis Leber. He is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Tayson.

Funeral services will be held in the Alpine 5th Ward, 165 North 100 East, Alpine, on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held that morning from 9:45-10:45 am at the church prior to the services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
