Brent Bousfield

December 19, 1968 — July 5, 2023

Brent Ross Bousfield, of American Fork, Utah, passed away on July 5, 2023, due to heart complications at the age of 54.

Brent was born on December 19, 1968, in Santa Monica, California, to William and Coreen Bousfield. The family moved from Whittier to Huntington Beach, where Brent enjoyed surfing, tennis, and spending time with his father fixing cars. Brent graduated from Edison High School in 1988, after which he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kobe, Japan from 1989 to 1991.

Brent has always had a soft spot in his heart for the needy, homeless, disabled, oppressed, underdog, anybody who is suffering and needs help. His major in college had to do with this desire to help others, and he was planning to either be a social worker or teach sociology. He worked with disabled young men while in college, and was a part of the “Best Buddy” organization, which helps these young men by developing friendships with them.

On one Christmas break from school, with his family on a trip to Mexico, he spent the money given to him for spending on blankets for the homeless. When a friend became pregnant with a baby with many birth defects that would lead to death, Brent became her one helper and confidant, seeing her clear through the delivery and aftermath.

There are many more stories about Brent’s heart-felt caring for those who needed help. His three sisters wanted to find someone just like him to marry when it came time for them to choose, and there were many girls as he grew up who were interested in this decent, kind, giving, and just genuinely good young man.

Brent obtained his B.S. in Sociology from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he met Shannon Livingstone. Brent and Shannon were married on December 18, 1993, in Los Angeles, California. After graduation, Brent and Shannon moved to Walnut Creek, California, where Brent began his career in Information Technology with Sheppard Mullin Richter and Hampton, LLP. He worked in the San Francisco, Orange County, and Los Angeles offices as a Network Engineer during his career. He earned a Masters of Business Administration from University of California, Irvine in 2001.

Brent and Shannon raised their three children, Nathan, Sarah, and Andrew, in Tustin, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, and Valencia, California from 1997 to 2021. Brent was an amazing father who adored his children and worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Although they parted ways, Brent and Shannon remained friends. Brent moved to American Fork, Utah, in 2021 to be closer to his parents and sisters.

Brent loved supporting his children in their various activities, hiking, biking, reading, spending time at the beach and in the mountains. He enjoyed talking about movies, current events and learning unique historical facts. He loved to share what he learned with others. His sense of humor and compassionate heart will be greatly missed.

Brent was preceded in death by his brother Johnny and father William, and is survived by his children Nathan, Sarah and Andrew Bousfield, mother Coreen Bousfield, sisters Virginia Herbst, Cindy Skillicorn, Betsy Parkes, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
