Bonnie Benson

This life will most certainly be much less interesting because an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and woman, Bonnie Lisa Thomson Benson passed away in her sleep on October 6, 2016. Known as Lisa to most, those who truly knew and loved her called her Mimi.
Lisa was born in Eureka, California on April 24, 1952 to Lowell Dee and Ruth Elaine Morley Thomson. She grew up in Orem, Utah and was a resident of American Fork for almost her entire adult life. She loved this community and had deep roots here. She served as an election judge for almost two decades.
Lisa began high school at Brigham Young High school until it closed in 1968. She graduated from Orem High School in 1970. Following high school, she attended Brigham Young University. Although she was immensely talented, her work as Mimi was her favorite. She also loved crafts, quilting, and used her talents to donate to Humanitarian efforts.
Lisa was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served a mission in the Eastern States Mission. She was a Relief Society President, Primary President among many other callings; however, her favorite calling was that of Gospel Doctrine Teacher. She was serving in that calling when she passed away. The last few years she enjoyed sharing her testimony with thousands throughout the world by way of Morning Greetings on Facebook
Lisa was survived by her ‘J-Dawg, stud-muffin' Jesse N Benson, her 5 children: RuthAnn (Kenn) Sullivan, Nate (Miriam) Benson, Andrew (Lisa) Benson, Aaron (Michelle) Benson, Julie (Chris) Juliano, and 16 grandchildren. Lisa was also survived by her siblings: Greg (Jeanne) Thomson, Cindy (Robert) Harding, Karna (Gary) Buckner, Kim (Tamara) Thomson, Lyle Thomson, Nancy (Patrick) Briggs, Tammy (Rob) Rokosz, and David (Kendra) Thomson as well as many nieces and nephews to whom she was known as ‘the favorite aunt Lisa'. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and sister Laurie Jemison.
Lisa's funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the American Fork 29th Ward chapel located at 673 E 300 North, American Fork, Utah. A viewing will be held Monday evening at Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 E 100 North, American Fork from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and from 9:45 to 10:45 AM at the chapel prior to the services. Burial will be in the American Fork Cemetery.
