Blake McDevitt, 39, passed away by natural causes on May 23, 2023, in American Fork, Utah. Blake was
born on December 30, 1983, in Denver, Colorado to Linda Kathaleen Carter.
Blake was quiet and reserved with a big heart. He was smart, meticulous, and an avid reader. He was
very intelligent--he learned Chinese in hopes of attending college in china to become an archaeologist.
He spent time on an archeological dig in southern Utah while in high school. Blake played the violin. He
was a big rock hound and loved searching for geodes with his best friend. He loved the outdoors and
was always willing to go on a hike or random excursion with friends, no matter the challenge.
Blake was in a car accident where he sustained many injury that left him in a wheel chair and learning to
walk with a drop foot and a brain injury. He spent over three years fighting to get back to walking again.
He adored his niece Olivia and nephew Talin. He was raised and supported by an army of friends and
family. He had just returned from a trip to Mexico with his family and was so happy.
Blake is survived by his mom, Linda Carter; and siblings: Melanie, Curtis (Christine) McDevitt, Tyler, and
Kyle McDevitt; aunt, Colleen (Roger) Bradshaw and children; uncle, Mike (Janet) Rybin and children;
niece, Olivia; and nephew, Talin. Blake is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, LeRoy and Vera
Schieler; great-grandfather, Ray Angle; and grandparents, Laurelle and John Salcido.
The memorial service for Blake McDevitt will be held on Saturday June 10th, at 11:00 AM at the
American Fork 12th Ward chapel, 673 East 300 North. Please share your memories of Blake his Tribute
