Betty Williams

January 1, 1940 — January 29, 2022

Draper

Betty Voncille Hart Williams, (81) of Draper, Utah, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday January 29th surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born on July 28, 1940, in Proctor, Texas to Rue Felton Hart and Mildred Cyrel Byrd Hart. Their family lived in New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Betty was baptized with her family as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pima Arizona when she was 9 years old. When Betty turned 13 years of age her family made their home in Lancaster, California.  She loved to spend time with her older brother, Billy Thurman Hart. A few of their favorite family activities were going to the beach and theater together. Betty graduated in 1958 from Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster, California. She also graduated from the Seminary program.

Betty met her husband, Billy Ray Williams, on a blind date at a New Year’s dance in 1958. They were married on June 20, 1959 in the Los Angeles temple. She supported her husband as he went through school by working as a secretary where she learned the lost art of shorthand. Together, she and Bill celebrated 62 years of marriage and were blessed with four children. They welcomed their first child, Cory, while living in Utah as Bill attended school. Afterwards, the family moved to Lompoc, California where they welcomed their other three children, Gina, Brenda, and Billy. She was very devoted to her husband and to her children and she loved them dearly.

While living in Lompoc, California, Betty got her real estate license and became a very successful real estate Broker at Ebbert’s Realty, eventually becoming the owner. She loved to travel with her family, including in their motorhome. They visited Washington DC on two different occasions as well as New York, Boston, and many church history sites.  They also drove along the west coast, and visited Mexico and Canada.

Betty helped finance a log home she and Bill built together with their family in Featherville, Idaho. They held family reunions there for 35 years. Their family shared many testimonies, memories, and lots of love whenever they spent time at that cabin.

Betty retired from her brokerage in 1996 and moved to Utah with Bill shortly after. They served for two years in China while teaching English. Betty also served in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple for two years.

She was an angel sent from heaven to bless the lives of so many-- especially the lives of her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was an example of Christlike love and service. She taught the things of God. She will be remembered for her kindness towards others and her willingness to love and accept people for who they are.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Rue and Mildred Hart, her brother, Billy Hart, her daughter, Brenda Tarr, and her grandson, Cammon Bagley. She is survived by her husband Bill Williams, her son Cory Williams, her daughter Gina Bagley, her son Bill Williams, 20 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
