Betty Loraine Phillips Thornton, 91, of American Fork, passed away November 30, 2017 in Alpine, Utah. Born June 26, 1926 in Westwood, California, the daughter of Leland Everett and Elsie Edith Olive Nelson Phillips. She married William Jack Thornton July 29, 1944 in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple August 21, 1946. She was an LPN for the State of Utah. She was active in scouting and received her Silver Beaver Award.
She is survived by her husband William, children: Karma Harmer; Linda Street; John Thornton; Terry Thornton; Ronald Thornton; Rose Marie Williams; Kathaleen Thomson; Cheryl Harris; Kimberly Buhler; 36 grandchildren; 79 great grandchildren; 23 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents and a son Michael Thornton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 6, 2017 at 11:00 am in the American Fork 5th Ward Chapel, 380 South 300 East. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North Am. Fork, and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 am at the church prior to the services. Burial in the American Fork Cemetery.
