Bessie Rasmussen

August 16, 1926 — June 11, 2006

Bessie Clark Rasmussen our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, was a refreshing mainstay of hope, joy and happiness to all she attracted to her circle of love. Born to goodly parents, Warren Vance and Bertha Strong Clark on August 16, 1926, in Alpine Utah. She became a life changing influence to everyone she met.
She started her formal education at Alpine Elementary and completed it by graduating from American Fork High School. Bessie met and married her sweetheart, George Wayne Rasmussen, in the Salt Lake Temple on May 25, 1944. After George's military service in WWII, they settled and made their home in Alpine, Utah. Together, they raised four sons and two daughters. George passed away on June 11, 2006.
Bessie filled an LDS life, serving in many capacities. Particularly loved and appreciated by all, were her many years of service in music, where she served, sang, directed and trained others to enjoy how the harmonies in music reflected the harmonies of life. She was dedicated to her callings, but she was most dedicated to her family. She was a great cook and will be fondly remembered for her homemade bread and bottled peaches that greeted her children from school. She made home a refuge from life's storms and a welcoming place of shelter to all. She loved serving her family and spending time with them on family vacations where she could enjoy the outdoors, nature, ball games, hiking and anything related to outdoor family activities. She had a special love for music and art.
She was a friend, nurturer, master story teller, had a sense of humor and the wisdom to not take life too seriously. She was born of good pioneer stock and left that legacy of industry and faith to her posterity.
She is survived by 4 sons and 2 daughters, Steven (Nancy), Stanley (Sherril), Dean (Colleen), Ken (Joye Gaye), Julie Kleinman, Karen Mounga, 32 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and a sister, Beverly Rhodes. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother Dan Clark, son in law Lynn Kleinman, one grandson, one great-granddaughter, and one great-grandson.
