Bert Edmond Fotheringham, a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished friend, passed away on February 8, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born on February 13, 1932, in Provo, Utah, to Otto Carlise and Leona Stickney Fotheringham. Bert lived a life filled with laughter, adventure, and selflessness.
Bert married Carol Dawn Adams on September 15, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah. A week after their wedding, he enlisted in the Army where he proudly served his country until September of 1954 when he was released into the Reserves. Bert and Carol were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.
Bert found solace in the simplicity of life. He had a deep passion for the great outdoors and enjoyed immersing himself in the wonders of nature. Whether it was hunting, fishing, or camping, Bert was always at peace in the wilderness. One of his greatest joys was restoring cars, using his mechanical skills to breathe new life into vintage vehicles.
An avid hiker, Bert always sought the thrill of conquering new trails. Riding his beloved tote goat brought him immeasurable joy and a sense of freedom that he cherished. With a mischievous spirit and a playful personality, Bert was known for his pranks and quick wit. His kindness and willingness to help others knew no bounds, as he consistently went above and beyond to serve those around him.
Bert is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Kathy Fotheringham and Karen (Robert) Tucker; 10 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Leona; son, Kay Fotheringham; granddaughter, Shara K. Hall; and his seven siblings.
The funeral service to celebrate Bert's remarkable life will be held on February 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Anderson and Sons Mortuary in American Fork, 49 East 100 North. Bert will then be laid to rest in the American Fork Cemetery.
