Angela Lynn Barrus Payne, 46, prior resident of Pleasant Grove, UT died on September 28th 2020 from injuries sustained in a car accident. She was supported by a devoted and loving husband and family.
Angela was born March 7th, 1974 in Provo, Utah to Kim Brown and Mary Beth Barrus.
Angela was extremely accomplished as well as devout in her faith. Her education was immense and vast. She received her undergraduate degree in English from BYU, a masters in Organizational Management form the University of Phoenix, and she earned a PhD in Educational Technology from Arizona State University. Her focus was on helping others develop themselves and learn what they needed to in this life.
She loved music, both listening and singing. She enjoyed board games with friends and family. She loved reading for both growth and entertainment, as well she loved traveling. Angela lived in California, Washington DC, Mesa, AZ, and various places in Utah over her lifetime.
Angela met her husband Andrew Jordan Payne while she was living in Arizona. They fell in love and were sealed in the Mesa Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 22, 2016. Their union blessed both of them so deeply and was truly a perfect match in heart, spirit, and intellect.
Angela’s faith was a major motivating influence for her. She lived it with clarity and openness. Her relationship with God was the most important thing in her life, followed by her love for her husband and eternal family. She discerned the the will of God in her life and followed it with intensity, determination, and love. She had a way of making other people feel included and special quickly while also realizing what they were capable of. She was a powerhouse for good.
Angela inspired everyone who knew her. Her ability to be both very driven while also understanding and kind, provided a beautiful example. She gave of herself at work, school, family, and church. She achieved extremely high professional goals, educational degrees, and served devotedly in many callings in the Church including Stake Relief Society President. Despite all these accomplishments, her most valued skill was that Angela lifted up others and helped them feel the love of the Savior Jesus Christ.
In a journal entry responding to the question “How do you want to be remembered when you are gone?” Angela wrote the following:
“People mainly perceive me as a highly motivated, hard worker who sets high goals and “cranks” hard and fast to achieve them, and I feel this is mostly true, once things are concrete and task driven. I want to be remembered as someone who perceived and met needs for people. I want to give my crank motivation to bringing people peace.”
Angela certainly fulfilled her intentions. She is survived by her husband, parents and siblings John Parker Barrus, Tamara Beth Barrus Rose, Heather Michelle Barrus Guffey, Joseph Kimball Barrus, Steven Matthew Barrus as well as innumerable other family and friends.
