Ada Mae Wild Bennett - Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother.
Ada Mae (Wild) Bennett passed away peacefully at age 90 on March 24th, 2025, at her home in Salt Lake City, UT. Born February 3rd, 1935 in Alpine, UT to parents Elry Wild and Jennie Adams, she was the second of two children. She grew up in Alpine and attended American Fork High School (Class of 1953) and Brigham Young University. She married Jay Lyn Bennett of Tremonton, UT on September 16th, 1955 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
Ada and Jay lived in Salt Lake City, UT; Alpine, UT; Minneapolis, MN; Clearwater, FL; Redlands, CA; and, Orlando, FL. In retirement, they moved back to Ada's childhood hometown of Alpine, then eventually to Pleasant Grove, UT. After Jay's passing in 2018, Ada moved to Cedar Hills, UT, and then finally to Salt Lake City where she spent her final months.
In addition to being a devoted wife and mother of three children, Ada worked in a variety of jobs over the years. She worked in the credit department of Sears, Roebuck & Co. in Salt Lake City, and for J.C. Murphy Co. in Minneapolis. After moving to Florida, she studied cosmetology and earned her beautician's license. With a lively, outgoing personality, she was a good fit for the social atmosphere of the beauty salon.
Ada was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. She held various leadership callings, including: Relief Society President, Stake Primary President, Young Women President, Family History consultant, and many others. She served as a temple worker in both the Orlando, Florida and Mt. Timpanogos, Utah Temples.
Ada was an accomplished seamstress, and she enjoyed making clothes for family members as well as for the dolls and Barbie dolls of her granddaughters. She loved to quilt, as well, creating many beautiful quilts over the years. She also liked to travel, managing to visit all 50 states within the USA, as well as travel to Asia, Europe, the Caribbean and Central America.
Ada's vivacious, energetic personality meant she was always the life of the party and the center of attention. As a teen, she would go dancing every chance she got. In 1953, she was crowned American Fork High's "Homecoming Queen." She was outgoing and quickly made new friends. A tireless player of games, she was always ready for a hard-fought Scrabble match or a lively round of "Hand & Foot". She loved a party and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.
Ada was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jay, her brother Dell, and her son Scott. She is survived by daughters April Bennett Stirling (Don Stirling) of Salt Lake City, UT, and Wendy Bennett Rogers (Donald Rogers) of Cedar Hills, UT, as well as 7 wonderful grandchildren and 12 beautiful great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29th, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Canyon Heights LDS Chapel, 3785 West Box Elder Drive, 4000 North, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062. Viewing will be the same day from 9:45-10:45 AM at the same location. Interment will be at the Alpine City Cemetery.
